"You remind me so much of her. Your smile, your face. Your unconditional love."
My dear and beloved dog passed away a little over a year ago with an enlarged heart and fluid in her lungs. She was very old when she passed and lived a long happy life with me. But with her passing a giant chunk of me was gone with her. As much as I wanted a new dog, I knew that I wouldn't find another that could take her place.
But about 5 months ago our neighbor brought over a dog named Matilda, a small Cocker Spaniel/Australian Shepard mix with a little nub for a tail. She was only a year old and was the sweetest to anyone willing to give her attention. Our neighbors have 13 dogs/puppies and during the past 5 months Matilda has came and visited my house. At first I was a bit put off by it... she wasn't my dog previous, she lacked the obedience that my dog had. But then I began to grow attached. She leaned up against me and put her paws around my arms (as if to hug me) and I fell in love. We taught her to fetch and to sit. When I would drive past her house she would beat me home and stand wagging her little nub (along with the entire back end of her) happily as I got out of my car. She is always so happy to see me...and her behavior towards me is along the lines of my dear departed dog. Perhaps she is my dog reincarnated. Perhaps I am just imagining it. Regardless she is a joy.
Now, our neighbors are moving and offered Matilda to us or else she is going to a Shelter with the other animals. The answer is clear. If my family agrees upon it, then this little dog will be bringing so much light into my world... <3
I don't want to say anything to jinx it~
I should have looked up dog anatomy....puh.
